The GDP-02 GSM Desktop Phone features big buttons and large illuminated display, built-in QWERTY keyboard for user-friendly SMS text messaging, a 200 name phonebook, speakerphone, an internal backup battery and simply operation as common land line phone.

The Czech Republic (PRWEB) February 17, 2005 -- Jablotron, an innovative security & cellular systems developer, today announced the release of its GDP-02 GSM Desktop Phone. The GDP-02 is an easy-to-use desktop cellular phone that uses standard GSM 900/1800 SIM cards. The GDP-02 provides standard voice calling and SMS messaging. In a world of complicated technical gadgetry, the GDP-02 is exceptionally uncomplicated.

“While the cellular phone industry has been consistently reducing its product size and increasing its product fea-tures, we decided to produce a larger, streamlined version that’s suitable for the desktop,“ said George Meloun, Jablotron Research & Development Manager. “The GDP-02 doesn’t have numerous complicated features. What it does have is a sensible, desktop phone design and standard, user-friendly cellular features. It’s perfect for someone who makes and receives a lot of mobile calls at home or in the office, and for people who do a lot of text messaging.”

Practical design
The GDP-02 was not created for pocket transportation; however, it has been engineered to be a very practical desktop telephone solution. A large QWERTY keyboard makes text messaging a breeze. A large illuminated and adjustable LCD display allows for convenient reading of text messages and faster software menu navigation. The GDP-02 is designed with a desktop-sized numeric keypad and intuitive hot keys for quick access to often used features (missed calls, contact phonebook, incoming messages, text writing, redialing). All keys are clearly labeled on the base unit with easy-to-understand icons for a more user-friendly interface and greater pro-ductivity. An accessible SIM cardholder is located at the rear of the machine. To install a SIM card, simply press the eject button and the SIM cardholder slides out; no need to fuss with removing batteries and battery covers to reach the SIM card.

Mobile phone users concerned about radio wave emissions from mobile phone antennas will be delighted to discover that the GDP-02 has an internal antenna, which is at a much greater distance from the user’s brain than in traditional mobile phones, thus greatly reducing the user’s exposure to electromagnetic energy. And an internal electromagnetic coupler device has been installed to dampen electromagnetic static and reduce back-ground noise for crisper, cleaner calls.

Standard desktop phone features
For late adopters of technology the GSM Desktop Phone is a very practical solution because it has been designed to look and operate just like a standard desktop phone: pick up the receiver and dial a number to make a call, hang up the receiver to end a call. The phone has both audible and visible indicators to clearly show when the phone is ringing. It is equipped with a large numeric keypad for easy dialing and easy number typing, a speakerphone for hands-free communication, a standard corded receiver, automatic redial, mute, programma-ble speed dialing keys, and one-touch volume control. The GDP-02 also comes with a built-in internal backup battery for safety in the advent of a power outage and its rechargeable so users can also operate the phone on battery power for up to 30 minutes.

Standard cellular features
With the GDP-02 GSM Desktop Phone consumers now have the freedom of using a traditional phone with standard mobile phone features. The GDP-02 operates over a normal GSM network and supports 900/1800 MHz dual band GSM frequencies. It comes with sensible cellular features such as call register, call divert, call waiting, caller ID, SMS messaging and archiving, assigned ringing tones and a phonebook that can hold up to 200 con-tact names and numbers. And with the GDP-02 users can quickly insert their mobile phone’s SIM card into the GDP-02’s SIM cardholder and import or export a mobile phone’s address book to and from the desktop cellular phone. The GDP-02 also provides PIN security for controlled access and multiple language support.

The GSM communications
The GSM Desktop Phone does not connect to conventional landline telephone systems, instead it communicates over GSM cellular networks. Users can operate the phone wherever there’s an AC outlet and a network signal: In a dorm room, in a hotel room, in the office, in a community center, at home, in a resort, or in an RV/caravan. The GDP-02 is a sound solution for communication over cellular networks in areas where traditional copper-wire landlines are not available, where signal range and voice quality cannot be delivered through handheld cellular phones, or where landline fees are more expensive than cellular telephony fees. Although GSM network provider plans vary from country to country, a number of consumers can benefit from a savings on international mobile-to-mobile calls as well as local mobile-to-mobile calls. And Telecoms can benefit by market-ing the phone as a landline replacement or by creating cellular-to-cellular business calling plans to expand market share.

The GSM Desktop Phone (GDP-02) is currently available for OEM and ODM orders directly through Jablotron. Additional information about the GDP-02 can be found online at: http//www.jablotron.com.
